About the Course
This 2 day course will teach you how to make a traditional, 3-legged, wedged tenon stool. The course is suitable for absolute beginners, as well as those with some prior experience.
You will learn how to make traditional wedged mortise and tenon joints and shape the top and legs, plane and finish. The course combines hand and power tools. You'll learn techniques such as planing, sawing, routing, drilling, sanding and shaping.
Groups are small to ensure plenty of individual time with the tutors, all of whom are highly trained and experienced cabinet makers.

I loved this course. I had no prior experience and when I arrived and saw what we were going to make I thought i'd never reach that standard in two days! Yet I came home with a beautiful handmade stool that everyone admired! The tutor was enthusiastic and very informative and guided us at a good pace through the two days. We all sat in the courtyard for lunch and got to know each other, a lovely sociable atmosphere. Cant recommend this course enough!

I did a stool making course at the East London School of Furniture. It was fantastic! A great way to spend two days, and I got to take home my beautiful handmade ash stool! The atmosphere was really relaxed, and I met some lovely people. I was a complete beginner, and nothing was too challenging. There were others who had some experience, and we all got a lot out of it, so well designed and suitable for all levels. I cant recommend enough!
