About the Course
I am extremely delighted to offer this indulgent 2 day course for those wishing to escape to a semi-rural environment to learn how to mosaic.
By the end of the course you will:
Be able to identify appropriate: substrates, tesserae, adhesives, grouts and installation spots.
Be able to identify and use safely appropriate equipment
Have chosen a project to work on
Have made new friends!
Have had the opportunity to grout at least one item
Wow, that sounds all very boring! You will learn of of that but in a very friendly and relaxed environment. Your tutor (that's me!) has 17 years experience of a mosaic artist (from UK to Isle of man) and 30+ as an adult education lecturer.
I only teach small groups so I can share my extensive knowledge at a quality pace.
Light refreshments are included plus a home made vegetable soup for lunch - please let us know your dietary requirements.
We have negotiated special rates at Hollin Hall Hotel. Usually £90 B&B for two, our students can benefit from £75 B&B for two people sharing. Please contact us prior to booking your course to check availability of the hotel and for the code word to quote for your discount.
I have recently moved my studio to work from home. The benefits to this are: classes are held in my ground floor kitchen area, with stunning views over Cheshire countryside, ground floor WC and the option to work outside on glorious sunny days
If you have never been to Bollington before, you are in for an absolute treat! Nicknamed 'The Happy Valley' it truly is a gem in Cheshire. Give it a Google - you won't be disappointed.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Priorities - brew and a biscuit (or fruit if, like me you are on SW!)
Everything is included for you to learn and create: substrates, modelling materials, adhesive, grout, tesserae, an apron, handouts and lots and lots of enthusiasm.
Lunch is also provided during full day workshops - let us know your dietary requirements.
Really enjoyed the course. Learned such a lot from Debra while working on my own project. There were 4 of us beginners attending. Each working on very different pieces. This maximised the learning opportunities as we benefitted from each others' work and Debra's advice on specific techniques. Time flew. Lovely food. Great company and beautiful surroundings. What more could you want?
