Enjoy some creative time outdoors learning how to use the age-old technique of tapestry weaving to create your own small piece of woven art
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
The day will begin with an introduction to tapestry weaving using a variety of examples of work by your tutor, Irene Evison. She will show how the craft can be used to explore the natural shapes, colours and textures of the landscape around us.
You will then spend the rest of the day on your own weaving, using a loom prepared for you so that you can dive straight in! Irene will equip you with the foundation skills you need to weave a small tapestry. If the shape of the hills opposite the Hub is what catches your eye, Irene will show you how to create that line in your tapestry, or if it’s the multiple greens of the fields and trees that you want to capture, there will be a great selection of yarns to work with and Irene will show you how to play with colour.
As the day draws to a close, you’ll finish off your work so that it is secure on the loom before cutting it off ready to take it home with you.
Irene teaches with a very relaxed style, with the emphasis on having a calming and artistically productive day where everyone can enjoy the wonderful natural surroundings of Clywedog.
No weaving experience is necessary.
All equipment and materials are provided.
