In the spring and autumn we will explore the seasonal colours using the lovely combination of watercolour and pastels.
We will create a watercolour base to work into with soft pastels. It's a really lovely combination of soft washes and more calligraphic marks.
First we will put down watercolour washes and then, once dry, work on top with vibrant pastels to add light, air and movement to our paintings. The important thing is to make sure that the two media work together so it doesn't look like you've added pastels to cover up a mistake! It is also a lovely way to work on portraits or animal studies.
The course will be held in a rural location in Hurst, Berkshire, to provide you with an inspiring and relaxing environment. All materials are provided, along with refreshments. No experience is needed to fully enjoy the day. If you already love painting in watercolours you will be provided with plenty of stimulation! Liz will let everyone go at their own pace to get the most out of the day.
Our venue is Micklems Farm in Knowl Hill. During lockdown Micklems refurbished the studio putting in new flooring to facilitate cleaning, new desks to help with social distancing and a camera system to enable demonstrations at a greater distance. Lunch is no longer included to prevent cross contamination. During good weather there is wonderful outside space to be enjoyed. Cleanliness and hand washing is actively encouraged. If you are not feeling well or are self isolating, please do not attend. In turn, the tutor promises not to teach if not well or isolating. If I am unable to teach I will of course refund you in full.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
