About the Course
A glorious weekend course of walking and photography, based at historic Flatford Mill. Course run by the Field Studies Council.
This weekend workshop is designed for those who enjoy walking, love taking pictures and wish to spend a few days relaxing and exploring Constable Country. Time will be spent looking and considering what will make a good photograph, whether it is a general vista, farm buildings, architectural details, hedgerow berries or the group enjoying their picnic lunch. We will walk between 4 to 7 miles a day in and around Dedham Vale, stopping at intervals to observe the surroundings and taking photos. Suitable for all models of camera, but a basic understanding of how they work is essential. At the end of each walk we will download and review the images from the day.
Jacqui Hurst is a professional photographer and teacher who very much enjoys helping people make the most of their digital cameras.
Bring a friend! If you are attending a course at Flatford Mill at the sole occupancy price, we are offering a special rate for a friend or partner not enrolled on the course to also stay at £50 per night for dinner, bed and breakfast. Please get in touch directly to book this offer.
Flatford Mill lies at the heart of the Dedham Vale, on the banks of the River Stour near the Suffolk-Essex border. The Centre buildings, particularly the Mill and Willy Lott’s House, are instantly recognisable since they feature in many paintings by John Constable. The rich mosaic of lowland landscapes, wildlife habitats and places of historic interest are all reflected in our extensive programme of courses.
The Centre is located between Colchester and Ipswich and is about 10 miles from each, approximately 2 miles from the A12.
