About the Course
You will learn the step by step process of designing and making a vintage-inspired bracelet and earrings, possibly a few pairs, by looking at:
Vintage jewellery recycling
The tools you will need to use and how to use each one
The materials you will need to use to make all of your jewellery
How to finish them to a professional standard using vintage or new quality plated findings
You will learn about vintage jewellery and some of the history behind it. This will help in giving you inspiration for your own designs. This will cover the following:
Discussing designs and techniques of vintage jewellery designers.
What different materials & designs were worn from the early to late 20th Century
Who in society would have worn such pieces
What materials were used in certain eras
How to choose the correct stringing materials and findings
The Techniques Covered:
Making simple drop bead earrings
Making a memory wire/strung/chain linked or elastic bracelet
Using pliers, side cutters, chain nosed pliers and round nosed pliers
Using crimps and findings
The classes are very relaxed and you will leave the workshop with your handcrafted jewellery to proudly wear or give away as a gift. Also have the confidence to create other pieces at home or at one of our more advanced jewellery workshops.
Please feel free to bring along with you any loose beads that you would like to recycle and make into something new and wonderful but don’t worry if you don't have any - you can use ours!

What's included in the price?
Each person in the workshop will be given the following tools and materials to work with:
1 Beading board
1 Beading mat,
A set of 4 tools – pliers, side cutters, chain nosed pliers and round nosed pliers
A varied selection of vintage and modern glass beads to include; a variety of lampwork, French Jet, Czech glass, Aurora Borealis crystal, carnival glass, quality modern day lampwork and crystal, vintage glass pearl and some semi-precious stone beads ranging from the 1930's Art Deco period right through to the modern day
A large range of silver & gold plated findings such as, ear hooks, headpins, crimps, jumprings, lobster clasps, jewellery wire and vintage clasps
Stringing materials such as, nylon thread, elastic and crafting wire
1 quality 13.5cm x 9cm Hessian bag - drawstring pouch in a beautiful vintage design, to put your made pieces into to keep them in good condition or to use when gifting the jewellery
You will be offered a 15 min break halfway through the workshop for refreshments of tea, coffee and biscuits. Please specify any allergies such as nut, gluten or dairy so we can accommodate you.
