About the Course
8 week upholstery class in fully equipped studio taught by Victoria Meacham, owner of VM Furnishing. Maximum 6 students learning modern and traditional upholstery with access to woodworking, spray painting, restoration and sewing instruction included.
Choice of two 2 hour classes are available on Tuesday mornings 10:00 - 12:00, Wednesday and Thursday evenings 18:30 - 20:30. There are also 3 hour Saturday classes. Beginners are suggested to tackle a dining chair or footstool. With a maximum class of 6, in this time, we should be able to finish a simple traditional overstuffed dining chair or 2 small modern projects. For those with bigger projects, multiple blocks of 8 can be booked on an ongoing basis. The workshop is equipped for restoration and painting as well as making simple footstools from scratch with all traditional and modern upholstery tools provided. There is usually a selection of chair skeletons for sale if you do not have your own. All classes are initially available in blocks of 8 but can be tailored as more or less time may be needed to finish projects.
