About the Course

Join us on our rewarding and relaxing course, discovering a workshop full of creativity where you will restore to its former beauty Grandma's or Grandpa's armchair or simply the family's piano stool.

The courses are limited to the number of attendees to ensure we meet the guidance relating to Covid-19. Workstations are spread out, there are facilities for washing your hands, the tools are disinfected after each use and many participants have been wearing their own masks. Should you have any concerns please do not hesitate to call Garry Course Director.

This course runs throughout the year, workshops are tailor-made to suit the participants availability and requirements, our workshop is situated in the heart of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.

Our tutor/assessor is the holder of a TDLB qualification and is a highly skilled and qualified upholstery and furniture restoration tutor with 16 years experinece in teaching and 40 years in this craft. Over these years he has witnessed many satisfied course participants pleased with the end results which often have been exhibited to members of the public.

During the course our tutor adapts to your needs, on enrolling, an assessment will be made as to the suitability of your project to your skill level therefore enabling the participant to obtain a high standard of work. We take pride in the end results, the participant will learn how to strip frames, restore frames, re-sculpture that "ball and claw foot" upholster in both traditional and modern styles, how to restore patina, learn the history and evolution of furniture, discover why specific woods and textiles are used?

All this in a relaxed, friendly and pleasant environment.
