A one-day workshop upholstering a bespoke, locally made ash milking stool using Welsh woollen fabrics. Learn from the great master himself, Mick Sheridan, as he guides you through traditional upholstery techniques. What will you learn on the course? • stuffing • tying • regulating • finishing • how to make tack piping • each stage will be demonstrated by Mick What will the day involve? • discussion and selection of fabric (you will have several designs to choose from) • make and attach piping • attach hessian, stitch bridle ties, start stuffing • finish stuffing and regulate • finish ‘in skin’ wadding and skewer fabric in place • slip-stitch piping and finish stool
What's included in the price?
All materials required to upholster your locally made milking stool are included in the course fee. Choose from a selection of Welsh woollen fabrics from Melin Tregwynt for your seat cover. Your seat will be stuffed with horse hair and finished by hand with piped edging. A spacious work area is allocated to each student along with their own set of tools to use while they’re here. Lunch can be bought at our café downstairs.
