Upholster a drop-in seat in West Wales
Contact course provider
About the Course
Two day workshop with Mick Sheridan . Learn from the great Master himself and upholster a drop-in seat using Welsh woollen fabrics from a choice of Melin Tregwynt and Cambrian Wool.
We’ve had great fun buying a whole load of lovely chairs from a local auction. You’ll be de-constructing the old chair and re upholstering it, using tools such as hammers, tack removers, ballots pliers and a webbing stretcher. You’ll be stuffing the seat by hand with horse hair.
All materials required to upholster your chair are included in the course fee. A spacious work area is allocated to each student along with their own range of upholstery tools to use while they’re here. We’ll be providing local Welsh fabrics for you to choose from or you’re welcome to bring your own.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

Excellent course. Well paced, learnt a lot and went home with a piece of furniture that I could be really proud of. Although Mick says he's not a teacher, he is good at explaining, and has a very good sense of when to intervene and when to let you get on with it. You make something under close guidance step-by-step, but feel that you have completed the article yourself.

This was an excellent course and this was simply down to Mick, he was a brilliant teacher, lots of time for each of us as well as teaching us in groups too. He us a perfectionist and equally wanted us to achieve perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the company of the others on the group. It was a very inclusive and supportive group with the bonus of fun too. Thank you to Suzi too, I received a lovely welcome from her plus she provided us all with regular refreshments.
