Upcycling and vintage shop where Simone been making and upcycling furniture and facilitating art sessions since 2013. She is a trained artist, cabinet maker and teacher and has been upcycling for twenty years and more.
In the introduction you will practically explore the basics of colour and design ,look and experience methods and techniques to upcycle and revive objects and furniture including distressing and decoupage (the art of decorating an object by gluing coloured paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf and other decorative elements ).
Stage 1 : Introduction to Simone and what we do at “Chester Drawers’.
A very short talk and demonstration of the preparation of surfaces and a look at materials and paints.
Then its your turn to flow and have a go the various painting techniques, set up and prepare a plaque small box for distressing using the various paint techniques.
Stage 2: More practically adding second coats on panels (need to wait for drying) and exploring ways of using what skills you are learning.
A look at decoupage : Demo and brief history of decoupage, then its your turn to have a go.
Stage 3: Learning to make a decision by doing a small vision board and how to keep a vision book, so can work on your box and then feel confident to work on future projects at home.
Stage 4 : Look at waxing and other finishing processes.
Finishing by celebrating the two pieces we have achieved!
We will look at our vision board process and look at what we can and want to achieve beyond today, feeling confident and excited about your toolkit of new skills!
