During this 1 year, 2 day per week UAL accredited course you will learn the fundamental skills for jewellery and silversmithing techniques. Alongside the technical skills of metalwork which include construction and soldering, casting processes, stone setting, raising and forging you will also learn design principles, improve your drawing and develop your creativity.
Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.
All work is project based and each UAL coursework is assessed at regular intervals across the 3- term academic year. One day is devoted to bench and workshop activities and will include regular practical demonstrations and hands on metal working tasks. The second day will be design and research based and include a variety of aspects which are essential for a jewellery designer but do not involve working at the bench.
These include researching themes and formulating designs and ideas, exploring the work of professional jewellery makers, market research, drawing and presentation skills, portfolio building, keeping technical journals and general art and design principles.
