The courses are run in my professional forge, which is extensively equipped for modern day use.
This two-day blacksmithing course starts in a similar way to the one-day version, with some basic technical instruction, but is intended to be more 'in-depth' as design and techniques are able to be further explored.
There will be opportunities to look more widely at the potential for interpreting the plasticity of hot metal; with more time available for experimentation and improvisation.
Each person will have the use of a space, an anvil, either a forge fire or a gas furnace to heat the metal, suitable hammers and tongs, as well as the facility of 2 power hammers for heavier forging. The workshop is extensively equipped for modern day working.
Internationally known blacksmith, Richard Bent, now offers this unique opportunity to unravel some of the mystery of blacksmithing; working under his instruction in his forge near Halwell, in the beautiful South Devon landscape.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
