About the Course
The Woodworks Project's
Traditional Upholstery courses run from our professionally equipped workshops in Bath.
Our experienced tutor, Leigh-Anne Treadwell, a highly skilled upholsterer, and founder of Bristol Upholstery Collective, will be guiding you step-by-step to project completion.
Traditional upholstery is a highly labour intensive skill that requires years of practice, that’s what makes it an exciting and endless learning journey as you pull apart furniture to reveal the trade secrets that lie underneath. With a handful of tools and a few tricks up your sleeve, it’s an addictive and highly rewarding skill to practice. The materials are natural and the processes enchanting… and the transformation, impressive.
In a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere, you will have the chance to bring out the best in your furniture, and create an opportunity to feel proud. Whatever your drive to learn upholstery, our upholstery courses are an enjoyable opportunity to really get to know what it’s all about.
This 6 week traditional upholstery course is very much dictated by what you wish to achieve. You'll benefit from seeing a variety of works being completed alongside your own project, class demonstrations and one-to-one support. The beauty of a weekly class is the available time to complete homework if you wish to really make the most of tuition during the lesson - you can achieve so much more!
All proceeds from our public upholstery courses are used to help fund The Woodworks Project’s charitable activities, so by enrolling on one of our courses you are directly helping vulnerable and disadvantaged people in our community.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

This was an excellent course made so by Leigh Anne's relaxed teaching style and support. Super practical... Basically able straight off to crack on with my project. All very hands on. I came away with a couple of projects and I am using my new skills upcycling and upholstering at home. Another bonus .... All the others doing the course were lovely and so was a sociable thing too! Thanks.
