Introduction to traditional upholstery - a two day course at Lincoln Castle

Experience all the techniques you need for traditional upholstery!

This two day taster experience provides all the basic techniques you need to know to reupholster a traditional style chair. Over the weekend you'll create a beautiful piece of work to take away with you on a chair of your choice. Techniques you will learn include: applying webbing, stitching/tying in springs, adding hessian/coir layers, applying bridle ties, stitching an edge, flocking and calico layers, applying top fabric.

This course is suitable for beginners age 16 +. Please wear comfortable casual clothes with closed toe shoes.

This course takes place at the Heritage Skills Centre at Lincoln Castle. Since 2013, the Centre has been offering hands on experience and training, offering a wide range of taster days, short courses and demonstrations in craft, conservation and traditional building skills.
