Spend a fun and relaxing weekend in the beautiful coastal Georgian town of Whitehaven, in the Western Lake District, learning the art of traditional teddy-bear making. Create your own ‘Cornelius’, who stands approximately 12” high, and is made of golden mohair with suede-like paw pads, glass eyes and a tilt-and-tip growler.
This 2-day workshop covers all aspects of the craft including how to work with mohair, fixing cotter-pin joints, paw-pad insertion, placement of hand-blown glass eyes, shaping faces and creating embroidered facial features.
The bears are sewn by sewing machine so please bring your own, or you may use one of ours (subject to availability).
An additional charge of £30.00 for the full materials kit is payable on the day.
At the close of Day 2, you will take home your very own bear and be well on the way to creating many more designs. A ‘pop-up’ shop is available for you to purchase materials for your next bear.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to construction methods, this is a Collector’s Item and not a toy. It must not be given to young children.
