About the Course
This 2 day stained glass painting workshop in Shrewsbury is structured to cater for different levels of beginners, including complete beginners. It's a brilliant opportunity to learn or develop a range of traditional painting techniques that were practised by the craftsmen back in the earliest years of creating stained glass windows in Europe. Please read the schedule below for a further insight into what to expect over the 2 days.
Day 1 -
9:45am - 4:30pm
you will explore, with the most creative approach to traditional, kiln-fired, stained glass painting, the making of glass paint paste, applying it and texturing onto glass.
Day 2 -
9:45am - 4:30pm
You will practice the glass painting skill of tracing, where you will select and work from a range of patterns and light/pale coloured glass provided. You will select a pattern of your choice and create a piece using all of the skills you were introduced to. At the end of the day, your final pieces will be fired over night using my kiln. There will also be a theme to the workshop which will be decided once I have an idea of who is participating.
No prior glass experience is necessary!
The studio is located in Shrewsbury town centre within walking distance from the bus and train station. For parking, there is the Abbey public car park 1min walk away from the studio.

I bought my mother this class as a present and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. we learnt so much over the two days, with such expertise, Natalie is so approachable, with such interesting skills we could really see how much we had learnt even over the two days.
We cant wait to place our glass pieces in our houses as a constant memory of the course.
Definitely worth a try!! I had no experience so you dont need to know anything before just come and have a go

On arrival I was nervous as although I had done some glass painting before, my skills were very basic and inexpert. Nathalie provides excellent guidance and support, so that I was able to test myself and try new challenges. Her encouraging style of teaching and openness to experimentation rather than necessarily having to adhere to a strict syllabus was very beneficial and much appreciated.

Although a two day workshop for beginners and I had not done any glass painting before , at the end of the workshop I felt confident enough to paint on glass in the traditional manner. Nathalie is a brilliant teacher and so knowledgeable about traditional methods I immediately felt comfortable in the studio.
I would recommend this workshop to anyone who wants 2 days of getting away from it all to learn a skill which has been practised for hundreds of years. You will not be an expert but an inspired learner!

had a wonderful time in the workshop.
I asked so many questions and nathalie was so patient.
After travelling from Canada to complete the course, i would recommend it to anyone starting as a beginner and i will hopefully be able to make the trip back for an advanced course.
thank you nathalie

I thought I was going to learn about stained glass and lead work as a friend thought that is what the course was. It came as a great surprise to learn that we would be doing a workshop on glass painting. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a great deal about a subject I had no prior knowledge of. Nathalie was very patient with a complete novice and the atmosphere was lovely and our group gelled really well too. I would definitely recommend this course.

Thank you Nathalie for a really interesting and informative couple of days. This was something that i had'nt done before so it was all new too me. I hope to continue to work with glass and the variety of mediums that compliment. A great course. Thanks again`

Nathalie had prepared her teaching sessions well with photographs she had taken especially for us to work from during the first day and materials set out ready for us on our tables. She took care to explain the processes thoroughly and then helped us to put into practice what we had learned, tactfully suggesting ways we could enhance our work as we went.
Nathalie was friendly and welcoming and took trouble to ensure that we enjoyed the course. An excellent two days!

Nathalie has a lovely teaching manner, she is passionate and patient and obviously an extremely talented artist. It was really interesting to learn the different techniques for applying the paint to the glass and how to create different effects. I was just sad when it ended! A great 2 day course!

I gained so much from working with such an experienced artist as Nathalie. She is so much more than an artisan and opened my eyes to the magic of working on glass. She is patient, encouraging and generous in her teaching. I learnt so much and had fun too in the magical place that is the couleurlive studio.
