About the Course
I am moving studios in September to Bognor Regis and will be setting no course dates until January 2020 when I have finished building the new studio. If you would like to go on my mailing list so that I can keep you updated with new dates and information about the new studio please send me a message.
Designed for beginners, but also suitable for those requiring a refresher weekend, this course will give you a good understanding of the design constraints and methods used in traditional stained glass construction. The aim of the course is that you should be able to commence small projects on an individual basis at home having completed the two days. If you wish to book a date later in the year please do contact us as we may be able to set alternative dates to accommodate you.
Students will learn to make a stained panel from scratch, to include cutting, leading, soldering and cementing techniques. Each class contains a maximum of 3 people to ensure you get the optimum amount of input from the tutor. You should expect to achieve a small piece approximately A4 in size for your first piece.
Making a stained glass window consists of a number of different processes. We believe you need a full two days in order to cover all of these processes thoroughly and to enable us to set you a challenge so that we can ensure you can leave us with the confidence to attempt a project on your own.
Full payment for courses is due on booking. Fees are non refundable within 30 days of your course unless we can fill your place. Please note that we can accept payment online by credit card, debit card or by bank transfer and, of course, in person.
If you book as a group of three people you will receive a 10% discount and you may make your bookings on dates to suit you.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
All tools and materials are supplied, please bring a packed lunch. We have a fridge and microwave facilities in the studio for students use. Be prepared to get a bit mucky. Please wear comfortable clothing in layers with flat covered footwear. Because we are handling lead, this course is not suitable for pregnant and lactating mothers. You will be spending quite some time on your feet.
I enjoyed the class and learned/achieved what I wanted. I love what I made and also did a recce at Reading Stained Glass a week later. Sadly I also discovered the processes and some of the materials were very harsh on my hands; probably should have worn disposable gloves and/or used barrier cream. I am really looking forward to doing the glass painting course.

Response from Koru Arts:Thank you for your review Susan and I am sorry your poor hands suffered. We are looking forward to seeing you for the painting course and glad that you had a great day. We will be putting on a few new special courses this summer with some very talented artists that you might enjoy.
What a fantastic 2 days we have had with Jan and Alison. The course was amazing! We learnt how to make a stained glass window, from learning how to use the tools, choosing and cutting our glass, cutting our lead, soldering and onto cementing and polishing. The finished pieces were beautiful we are both vey proud! Thank you to Jan and Alison for your wonderful tuition and patience! Cannot recommend this studio highly enough but beware it's addictive!! Glass fusing next for us!!

Great 2 days making a leaded glass panel under the watchful eye of Jan and Alison our very knowledgeable and skilled tutors
Small groups meant plenty of help and support when needed but encouragement to work independently once feeling more confident
Relaxed atmosphere and everyone felt they had really achieved something by the end of the 2 days
