About the Course
Designed for beginners, but also suitable for those requiring a refresher weekend, this course will give you a good understanding of the design constraints and methods used in traditional stained glass construction. The aim of the course is that you should be able to commence small projects on an individual basis at home having completed the two days. If you wish to book a date later in the year please do contact us as we may be able to set alternative dates to accommodate you.
Students will learn to make a stained panel from scratch, to include cutting, leading, soldering and cementing techniques. Each class contains a maximum of 3 people to ensure you get the optimum amount of input from the tutor. You should expect to achieve a small piece approximately A4 in size for your first piece.
Making a stained glass window consists of a number of different processes. We believe you need a full two days in order to cover all of these processes thoroughly and to enable us to set you a challenge so that we can ensure you can leave us with the confidence to attempt a project on your own.
Koru Arts courses are run in a beautiful light setting. The rural art gallery and working glass studio are situated in a converted farm building on the outskirts of Medstead, Hampshire. We have a regularly changing display of exciting work by local artists making this an inspirational and peaceful place to learn.
Full payment for courses is due on booking. Fees are non refundable within 30 days of your course unless we can fill your place. Please note that we can accept payment online by credit card, debit card or by bank transfer and, of course, in person.
If you book as a group of three people you will receive a 10% discount and you may make your bookings on dates to suit you.

What a fantastic 2 days we have had with Jan and Alison. The course was amazing! We learnt how to make a stained glass window, from learning how to use the tools, choosing and cutting our glass, cutting our lead, soldering and onto cementing and polishing. The finished pieces were beautiful we are both vey proud! Thank you to Jan and Alison for your wonderful tuition and patience! Cannot recommend this studio highly enough but beware it's addictive!!
