About the Course
A practical course, using traditional methods; you will learn in a small group how to make this traditional Honey Wine. Taking home a gallon of your own Mead to share with friends and family, you will also keep all the equipment needed to continue this traditional craft at home.
A Traditional Wine Making course is held in the morning. If both courses are booked for the same day we provide a complimentary lunch.
1. Introduction To Mead
Find out all about this traditional honey wine, what it is and the different types you can make
2. Preparation And Practical Session
A fun, practical session making your own mead, learning the preparation for a basic mead; ingredients needed, how to make and how to calculate the alcohol content
3. Preparation For Bottling
A demonstration on how to transfer the mead from the primary vessel into bottles once fermentation has completed (you will need to do this at home in approx 2 months time)
Course Tutor: Steve Gibson
Steve has been brewing country wines since 2005 and continued with the craft ever since. The hobby has grown, and Steve now keeps his own bees to harvest honey for Mead (Honey Wine) and gives talks and demonstration to local groups and enthusiasts.
What To Expect:
An informal afternoon learning the joys of brewing your own mead.
Try a sample of freshly brewed mead and take home 5 litres of your own mead to share with friends and family. You will also get to keep all the equipment needed to continue this hobby at home.
Refreshments will be provided.
Parking is available at the entrance to our farm and our training room is just a short walk down our track.
What To Bring:
Just bring yourself, confirmation of your booking, a notebook and any questions you may have.
Please arrive at 1.15pm for a prompt 1.30pm start.
