This course is aimed at novice and more experienced spinners. It runs from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm on Thursdays, in rolling 5 week blocks, by which we mean that if you start on Week 1, you will finish your block on week 5, but if you start on Week 3, your block finishes on Week 7.
The course will cover spinning, including beginner lessons, fleece choice and sorting, washing, carding, combing, spinning on a spindle and wheel spinning.
I have been teaching spinning for almost 30 years, both in the UK and overseas. I am the co-author of Creative Spinning with Alison Daykin, Gaia, 2007. I have been a tutor at the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers Summer Schools and am a regular contributor to the yarn designs featured in Yarnmaker Magazine.
For those who are interested, we can include natural dyeing, using the plants from the Leewood dye garden where appropriate. In addition to the dye garden, Leewood has a splendid flock of Wensleydale sheep
The emphasis is on relaxation and enjoyment in the wonderful atmosphere of Leewood
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
