Learn traditional green wood working skills using hand tools and coppiced wood to make your own three legged stool.
On the second day we will be taking to the Pole lathe. These wood turning courses will offer a step by step tutorial from log to finish product covering all the different processes and techniques which will give you the know how to make your own green wood crafts from raw materials such as ash, hazel, cherry, sycamore, beech and oak. Get to know the different properties of various timbers and how and when to use them. A great start to help build your green wood working skill base. Beginners and improvers as well as experienced crafters welcome.
Green wood work courses cover all the steps necessary to build on your own existing skillset or learn new skills when working down coppiced wood into various woodland crafts or practical items like tools handles, etc. Learn how to use the hand tools involved and the traditional techniques of joinery used in this declining country craft. Tools involved in this craft include the side axe, the froe and mallet, the drawknife and the shave horse, the cleaving break and the pole lathe, among others.
