3 artists books in 3 weeks
In this fun, experimental short course we will make three books using printmaking and bookbinding techniques.
The first is a pamphlet notebook with blank pages and a handprinted cover. We will carve rubber stamps and use inkpads to print repeat patterns for the book cover and attach it to a simple handsewn single-section pamphlet book.
The second is a collaborative concertina book. Each student carves a rubber stamp so each book contains a collection of everybody's prints, bound in a hard cover with bookcloth.
The third is a Japanese multi-section binding which can be used for making a sketchbook or notebook that lies completely flat when opened.
There will be demonstrations, practical work and one-to-one tuition.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
No previous knowledge of bookbinding is needed.
