Oval-shaped baskets are particularly beautiful and learning to make them is an important part of the journey for any willow basket weaver. In this exclusive online course and kit, we've teamed up with leading basketmaker Mollie McMillen. Mollie will teach you how to tackle an oval-shaped base, how to weave a beautiful cable-pattern double French rand on the sides of the basket, and how to attach a pair of perfect leather handles. These will make your basket super-comfy to carry every day. Students get lifetime access to the three-hour online course, which is produced by our BAFTA-winning team, plus all the materials will be delivered straight to your door. During the course you will learn how to: - Select and prepare your willow for weaving - Make an oval basket base - a core skill for basket makers. - Put on uprights - Weave six rod 'waling' pattern on the bottom of the basket to secure the uprights. - Weave a beautiful cable pattern pattern up the sides. - Weave a '5 behind 2 rod border' which is the ornate rim around the top of the basket. - Attach lovely leather handles (leather included!) What's included in the price?

In the kit you will receive: - Two large bundles of high-quality willow weaving rods – all sustainably grown in Somerset. (We send you the right amount for the project plus quit a bit left over!) - A pair of leather handles plus leather thongs for attaching them. (This is super easy and fun to do and no stitching is required.) - A soaking bag - your willow will need to be soaked for a couple of hours before you weave it - full instructions are included.
