Join bookbinder Cass Barron and artist and writer Julie Galante for this full day workshop, which will equip you with everything you need to create a refillable journal of dreams and craft a journalling practice that works for you.
Over the course of the day Cass and Julie will guide you in making a series of handstitched booklets and have you putting them to use straight away to explore a range of writing prompts - with lots of opportunity for sharing and discussion.
Together we'll explore how journalling can help prompt creativity, time for reflection and bring some much needed calm to your everyday. We'll also discuss different ways to start and maintain a journalling practice that works for you.
After a break for lunch, Cass will get you started on making a refillable journal to house your booklets and assist your journalling journey, complete with decorative cover, pockets, envelopes and pen/pencil holder - ensuring your journal is both functional and fabulous!
A materials/tool kit and series of video tutorials accompany this workshop, which will enable you to add the finishing touches to your journal at home and provide you with journalling prompts to work through in your own time.
Julie and Cass have run six sell-out online editions of this workshop over lockdown with some great feedback from participants:
'A superb idea for a course. It would make a great Christmas or birthday gift for someone who likes to make things.' - Karen
'Loved the combination of making something really lovely and the writing exercises which helped free up my locked down writing mind! Also really well constructed video tutorials. Well done Cass and Julie!' - Lynne
They are very excited to launch the in-person version of this popular workshop, exclusive to the Arienas Collective.
The Arienas Collective workshops are run from a supportive and welcoming home-based environment within Edinburgh’s City Centre Georgian New Town. We invite you to turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
Spaces on our workshops are limited so that our artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us.
All equipment is provided, and the materials you need to complete your project are included in the price of your workshop (unless stated otherwise).
PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Due to COVID-19, we have had to adapt the way we run our workshops and there may be some changes to the way it is delivered.
This workshop is also available to book for private group get-togethers; themed wedding and birthday celebrations; for corporate team building and well-being purposes; and can be brought to a location of your choice.
Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.
All materials and refreshments are included. You will also have access to all the equipment you will need, plus course videos.
