Description

This textile surface pattern design workshop is led by award-winning illustrator, printmaker, and relief collage artist, Deborah Withey. It's a great workshop for those who may shy away from drawing but love to express their creativity in other ways. Want to know how to create those bold fabric designs you see in Ikea and John Lewis? The workshop combines both nature printing and the art of collage and is very hands-on and spontaneous! We'll talk about what makes a dynamic and successful fabric design and take inspiration from art history, the garden and seaside (in winter, too). You'll be mono-printing with ink, acrylic, cardboard, etc. onto calico fabric to create your own design. If you love working with texture and colour, then this is the workshop for you. An online 4 week course (6 hours in total), please contact me for the scheme of work.

What's included in the price?

It's best to purchase plain white or cream "calico" and wash it before bringing it to the workshop. In addition, charity shop soft cottons or plain sheets are nice to experiment on.

What you will need

I will give you a list of things to have and use during the 4 workshops, it's surprising what creative things you can do with cardboard, so you won't be investing in expensive supplies unless you want to.
