Description
Terracotta plant pots! In this session you will create a collection of approx two or three small terracotta plant pots using hand building techniques such as pinching, slab building and coiling. The amount you make will depend on if you decide to paint them or not. This low fired clay is perfect for potting up colourful outdoor plants or to create your own indoor cactus/succulent arrangements. If you have your own designs in mind, I can show you techniques to help you create them. You will also use colour and texture to add interest to your pots to make them uniquely yours. These sessions are booked on an ad-hoc basis. Typically I run these on Monday, Wednesday, Fridays and weekend daytimes. 2 people minimum required to book a class privately, please let me know preferred dates via the "message the tutor" button. Finished work will be ready to collect roughly two weeks later. About the teacher: Elly gained a Masters degree at the Royal College of Art in 2004 and has over 20 years experience of working with clay and many years teaching. Alongside her classes, she also has her own ceramic practice which she exhibits at ceramics fairs and exhibitions.

Maker
My interest in ceramics began when I took an evening class in pottery aged 17. I then went on to gain a degree in Ceramics and 3D design at Bath Spa University, and after that a Masters degree in Ceramics at the Royal College of Art in London. I work in my purposely built garden studio. The studio is well equipped and has plenty of natural light. It's also a communal space as it is often busy with the students who come to my classes, which makes it a lovely space to work in.
