Enjoy some creative time outdoors this summer, observing the colours, texture and shapes of nature, then learn how to use the age old technique of tapestry weaving to create your own piece of woven art!
This workshop will be led by tapestry artist, Irene Evison, at the Creative Hub overlooking the Clywedog Dam and the inspirational landscape beyond. Weather permitting, the workshop is set to take place outdoors. However, if the weather isn't looking too good, the workshop will be held indoors.
Appropriate social distancing measures will be in place throughout. Our buildings have disabled access and we have adaptable equipment.
What you will do
Irene will start by guiding you through weaving techniques, and will show you how to capture the landscape around you, recreating textures, outlines and shapes.
Once you have the basics covered, Irene will be keen to let you start weaving, offering expert advice as you create your woven art.
As the session draws to a close, you’ll finish off your tapestry so that it is secure on the loom before cutting it off ready to take it home with you.
Irene Evison of Nearly Wild Weaving, is a leading tapestry weaver, who specialises in 'weaving the view'. She teaches in a very relaxed style, with emphasis on having a calming and artistically productive day where everyone can enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Clywedog.
