3 days of creative tuition to start your poetry writing.
As a summer course, this will take place over three consecutive days and will repeat in the Autumn over three consecutive Saturdays - please get in touch for details.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or have already taken your first steps towards writing poetry, this course will develop your craft.
It’ll help you create and edit poems, considering form, tone and rhythm, and have the option of selecting your best poem to be published in a limited edition pamphlet.
This practical course is designed to support writers in developing their craft, and is open to beginners and more experienced writers who are new to poetry.
On this course you will:
develop and hone your skills in writing poetry
experience the stages in the process of creating a poem and preparing it for publication, from inception to completion
undertake poetry writing exercises
read poetry and short texts about the process of writing
begin to create a body of work that you can continue to work on beyond the course
receive high-quality feedback on your work in a supportive environment
work with a tutor to identify the next steps for your writing.
There’ll be some readings in the workshops but there is also scope, if participants are willing, to arrange a public reading of the work.
What will I gain?
By the end of the course you’ll have developed the confidence and skills to continue writing poems independently, or perhaps want to take further studies in the future.
