What a fabulous day in a thoroughly unique and perfect setting to learn about wood carving.
Starting with the log and then using an Axe to create the outline spoon shape of your choosing was great and makes it your own design and shape. then using the smaller carving knifes is such a great creative process. Thomas is a great teacher and seeing the spoon appear from the log is great fun. The baked potatoes on the open fire for lunch was a great treat as well.....and very tasty!

A thoroughly enjoyable workshop in a charming location. I am really pleased with my spoon and butter knife and have the confidence to make more on my own. Thanks to Thomas for excellent one to one tuition also for the supply of coffee & snacks and even baked potatoes!

I loved the day so much that I want to get it as a gift for a couple of my friends. Everything about it was great: being creative, the instruction, being in the beautiful place, the snacks and lunch, everything. Thank you. 🙂

We had such a fantastic day with Thomas learning how to carve our spoons in such a beautiful setting. He was very patient and informative, offering assistance when needed and I felt very proud of my finished spoon. I feel I have come away with lots of knowledge about the tools and techniques to use and can’t wait to have a go st making my next spoon.

Your spoon carving day was brilliant from beginning to end. Thank you so much.
The open air workshop, set in the woodland glade was perfect for finding our spoons in blocks of chopped wood.
Your teaching and demonstrations were clear and the group was sufficiently small for you to be able to give us personal assistance when needed.
Your tools were beautiful- sharp and appropriate for the job and I’m now the proud owner of a beautiful spoon.
The freely available snacks, baked potatoes and genial company of the other group members added to the total enjoyment of the day.
It was the perfect birthday present for my daughter.
Five star review!

This was a perfect way to spend the day. Thomas had prepared so thoughtfully for us - super sharp tools to work with, delicious things to nibble throughout the day, baked potato lunch ready to go just when we needed it. The peace and beauty of the woodland setting made it much easier to concentrate on what we were doing. Thomas's clear and gentle guidance punctuated the day, and before I knew it a slice of wood had become my spoon! A really good learning experience.

Thomas is a very patient and skilled teacher who made the day both interesting and worthwhile. The setting of Hosenden Hill was good and I enjoyed the baked potatoes from the fire for lunch.

Horsenden Farm is great setting for learning a country craft. Thomas was a great host and teacher offering refreshments and expert guidance. The day flew by as we concentrated on achieving a decent usable spoon and a butter knife to boot. A very enjoyable day learning a new skill.

I've just had a wonderful day with some super people in the woodland at Horsenden Farm. Thomas was an excellent tutor and supervisor helping everyone whenever needed with creating their spoons, making plentiful cups of tea and keeping a fire going. The setting is lovely and it is all supporting a good cause of a farm which is run by charities, volunteers and craft groups. We all came out with fantastic spoons and even bonus butter knives, but as well as that a lovely, relaxed and therapeutic day in the outdoors. I would highly recommend this course and can't wait to carve my next spoon!
