About the Course
This is a 3-hour long beginner's wooden spoon or fork carving course based at my Norwich workshop (12-3pm). You will learn the basic skills required to make your own spoon or fork from reclaimed or green wood.
You will be able to take home your creation at the end of the course and will be given sandpaper and tips on caring for your item (e.g. applying waxes and finishes for a long-lasting product).
I will provide spoon or fork blanks from an assortment of woods for you to choose from, including reclaimed hardwoods and locally harvested green timbers. All tools will be provided.
Halfway through the course, I will provide soup, tea and coffee to sustain us through the second half of the session.
Due to the nature of working with axes, knives and other sharp tools, all students must be 18+.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
All tools will be provided for the students to use on the day. I will provide a selection of axes, carving knives, gouges, rasps and hand saws to trial and will give advice on purchasing your own tools after the course if you choose to invest further.
All students will take home their completed (or in-progress) spoon or fork, along with some sandpaper for finishing and a small pot of finishing wax if desired.
A soup lunch and coffees, teas & biscuits will be provided on the day.
I will be holding an advanced spoon and fork carving course later in the Spring which will include an optional carving knife or gouge in the price and will last a full day.
