About the Course
Furniture Painting techniques
Learn the very 'in-vogue' art of furniture painting, using Annie Sloane chalk paints, Farrow & Ball, learn how to stencil, crackle glaze finish, lapis lazuli and malachite swirls plus more! You will begin by working on simple boards you will learn the various techniques of using chalk paints including distressing and waxing techniques that will be explained, shown and practiced.
Sonja and Kate Tillieard, from our lovely local home and gift ware shop 'White and Green' ( Cockermouth) have completed several painting effects/techniques courses including the most well known run by Annie Sloane. On this course at Greystoke you can bring along your own piece of furniture; choose something small that you can carry easily (i.e. a stool, chair, small table etc) and enjoy your 'Hands On' day with Sonja learning how to totally transform and create something quite different and original - all done by you. The very best bit is no sanding!!! The paints used are so thick there is no need, this process is quite addictive when you realise just how quickly items can be transformed!. One can just paint over existing finishes. Chalk paint is a great 'leveller' Annie Sloane and Farrow & Ball are used among others. There may be a charge of around £10 for materials used at the end of the course, depending on what is used.
