About the Course
Join Ella to create your own pewter pendant or keyring using a heritage metalwork skill of cuttlefish casting.
Design your own pendant/keyring before mould making using the natural material of cuttlefish and casting using molten pewter. We will then finish our casts using traditional jewellery tools so you can proudly take your handmade design home. Ella, who recently won the Creative and Cultural skills award for her pewter workshop programme, will guide you through all aspects of this fascinating process handed down through generations of makers.
Ella is a full time pewtersmith based at Manchester Craft and Design Centre. Having specialised in pewter after completing her jewellery and silversmithing training her work has been recognised through awards from The Worshipful Company of Pewterers and she has completed many prestigious commissions over the course of her career.
Suitable for beginners or those who have tried jewellery or silver before.

Ella is a fantastic teacher. She knows how to set you at your ease, tells you just enough without overwhelming you in details, and then proceeds to check in with everyone individually to make sure you're ok. She makes the whole pewter process seem so easy and highly rewarding. I wouldn't hesitate to book with her again.

Ella was fabulous - we got going really quickly - as Ella gave really concise teaching points to get us underway guiding us and rescuing the minor mishaps with our work. We produced an array of little objects using variety of techniques which were really pleasing. It was an immensely pleasurable day helped along with plenty of sustenance and some lovely company. Thank you! We are already looking forward to our next visit.
