About the Course
Sew Together Romsey offers two classes for those that want support with their own sewing projects. They are held on a Wednesday, one in the day and the other held fortnightly, in the evening. Qualified textiles teacher with 35 years experience.
What can I hope to learn?
That is really up to each individual but these are some of the areas that can be offered:
Understanding a commercial dressmaking pattern
Dressmaking pattern alteration
Simple pattern drafting
Sewing techniques and terminology
Understanding fibres and fabrics
Help with fitting
How to use basic equipment, e.g. overlocker, iron, embroidery machine, trims and other accessories etc…..
Inspiration for upcycling
Making soft furnishings, e.g. beanbags, loose furniture covers
The class sizes will be small to allow plenty of individual and group teaching and are attended by the younger to more mature sewer. I aim to cater for beginners right through to an intermediate level of sewer, hopefully everyone will learn something new!
Day classes will be held at Youth in Romsey (next to Romsey Rapids) from 9.45am to 12.15pm and evening classes are held at Braishfield village hall from 6.45pm to 9.15pm.
You might decide you want to attend regularly, but ‘one-off’ sessions will also be possible depending on availability.
