We will be hosting three masterclasses with metal clay jewellery artist Anna Mazon. Anna is an award-winning jeweller based in Poland, and comes highly recommended by our silver clay tutor Anna Campbell.
Anna Mazon is a world-renowned metal clay artist, and sought after teacher, who travels around the world to share her techniques. These are her only planned classes in Scotland for 2021, and we are excited to welcome her to The Arienas Collective.
Silver twig ring masterclass
On this one-day masterclass you will make your own twig ring from Art Clay Silver, including learning how to create organic shapes, carve texture, add embellishments and more. Your ring will be fired and ready for you to take home at the end of the class.
Specifically you will learn:
* how to correctly size a ring made of silver clay, adjusting for the shrinkage of the clay
* how to make an organic twig ring band
* how to use basic carving tools to carve the bark texture
* how to securely set faceted stones to the band
different ways to finish the fired silver ring to get different effects; and
try your hand at making embellishments e.g. leaves, fruit, and so on.
The price includes silver clay, a 3mm faceted stone, refreshments and a buffet style lunch.
You will have access to a basic metal clay tool kit, and ring making mandrels will be available to use. You will need to bring a fine jewellers file with a pointed end, and two fine paint brushes (we can send you a list of suppliers).
The class is suitable for anyone who has attended Anna Campbell's full day Introduction to silver clay jewellery beginners class. If you are unsure whether this masterclass is suitable for you, please get in touch before booking.
Please note that our workshop space is based on the first floor of a Georgian mews home and unfortunately we do not have lift access.
Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.
The Arienas Collective workshops are run from a supportive and welcoming home-based environment within Edinburgh’s City Centre Georgian New Town. We invite you to turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
Spaces on our workshops are limited so that our artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us.
All equipment is provided, and the materials you need to complete your project are included in the price of your workshop (unless stated otherwise).
Our refreshment breaks are an important part of all The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and experiences. They are a time to socialise, make new friends and chat to the artists and makers. We are fortunate to have a fantastic range of independent shops and producers nearby, and feature locally sourced food and drinks wherever possible. A wide range of dietary requirements can be catered for.
PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Due to COVID-19, we have had to adapt the way we run our workshops and there may be some changes to the way it is delivered.
Most of our workshops are also available to book as a private group, or to bring to your workplace or venue. Please email us for more information.
