Join experienced jeweller/goldsmith Lindsay Forbes, jeweller and founder of Laconic jewellery, as she guides you through this beginners course to make silver hoop earrings. Learn how to cut and bend wire into both wavy shapes and straight before forming into hoops. You’ll learn a few techniques for bending and shaping the wire, including freehand and the use of wire jigs to create your desired effect.
You’ll also learn how to add texture using hammering techniques and basic soldering skills to finish your earring stud before it’s given the final finish. You can choose a polished finish or opt to apply a matt effect instead.
In this course, you will practise using copper wire to experiment with shape and texture. Once you’ve learned the techniques you’ll choose which design you prefer to commit to making in sterling silver. You can expect to make x1 pair of hoop earrings in silver.
