Silver Clay Jewellery Workshop at Hanwell Wine Estate

X

Description

Come and enjoy a creative session and make your own personalised silver charm using silver clay. The class will take place in our 100sqm craft barn where you will take in the beautiful surrounding views of Hanwell Wine Estate for inspiration. Silver clay is a wonderful medium to work in and requires no experience to get started. Often people say “it’s like magic and alchemy” as they watch their textured clay turn into fine silver. Made from recycled silver, mixed with organic binders and water, it can be sculpted, moulded and textured, with amazing results being achieved in a relatively short space of time. This means that you don’t need any prior jewellery making or silversmithing skills to enjoy this medium to make your own fine silver jewellery. In this workshop you will learn the basics of working with silver clay to create a small pendant or charm. We will discuss the different ways to fire your clay pieces, looking at both kiln and torch firing. Once a design has been created it is then fired, the binder burns off and the silver particles fuse together to create a piece of solid silver jewellery. During the class, you will learn: Rolling & cutting Texturing Pre fire finishing Post fire finishing Burnishing Polishing What is included: 5g of silver clay, a silver jump ring and all the tools you will need for the workshop, plus refreshments.
