About the Course
Learn to make your own beautiful fine silver jewellery from Art clay silver, at my studio in Newcastle upon Tyne. No previous experience is necessary!
Silver clay when fired, which can be done using an inexpensive torch at home, results in 99.9% fine silver pieces. By the end of my course you will have some beautiful jewellery to take home.
Silver Clay has recently been featured on BBC1 Countryfile Winter Special and BBC4 Make! Craft Britain
I have been making jewellery from metal clay for a few years now. I completed a year long course at the London Jewellery School resulting in a Diploma in Creative Jewellery which included making various pieces of jewellery in silver clay. I also passed Art Clay Level 1 Diploma, which qualified me to teach basic metal clay classes.
I will teach you the following:
Rolling & cutting
Pre fire finishing
Post fire finishing
Oxidising to create 'antiquing'
I offer one-to-one workshops.
Please contact me for details of available dates of workshop.

Claire was great, really flexible even as i needed to change the date with only a few days notice. The course was really hands on, i came away with three pieces of jewellery and learnt the basics. Claire gave me lots of printed out information to take away so i didn't need to worry if i forgot something. Definitely recommend

Response from ToDot Handcrafted Goods Limited:Thank you Claire it was a great morning and nice to meet you!
I booked the silver clay course with Claire and she offered me a one to one session and was very quick and prompt about this. The course itself was brilliant. I learnt everything I needed to know to start this hobby at home and Claire went above and beyond to get me the information necessary to do this. She gave me a pack with all the info I needed and even sent follow up emails with more info. She is very attentive and helped me make some amazing pieces. I would definitely recommend her to anyone 👌🏼

My friend and I were interested in doing this course, but we have limited availability owing to work (and other) commitments. Claire was very accommodating and offered a course for just the two of us. We were both totally new to silver clay work, and found the course interesting - it was hands-on and we managed to come away with pieces that we had made and more importantly, that we could actually use. Claire was very friendly, and we enjoyed meeting her dog Daisy, who made us very welcome too!
Claire had a lot of equipment for us to use and gave us lots of tips in case we wanted to try using silver clay at home, including written information for us to take away.

As Claire didn't have a course coming up she offered me a one to one class - an added bonus.
Claire was very warm and welcoming. She was able to explain the silver clay process clearly and it was very helpful to have my many questions answered so well. She even gave me a lot of written information and useful contacts to take home for future use.
I had a really enjoyable afternoon and have some new earrings too.
