Participants need to have either completed the tutor's introductory silk workshop or have some knowledge of silk painting to undertake this workshop.
We will be using the Serti Technique, using silk dyes, which move a little differently on the silk, enabling us to make some interesting textures.
We will provide the ready hemmed long silk scarf and the frame on which it needs to be stretched to paint. If you prefer to just make a painting or wall hanging please let us know well in advance once you have booked (email will be provided after your booking is confirmed) and we can provide a suitably sized piece of silk and have a frame ready.
After painting I will take the scarves away to be steamed to set the colours before returning them to you by post or collection from Micklems Farm.
You can bring ideas and drawings ready to transfer to the scarf or use some of my own designs. Whichever way, you will produce a beautiful work of art which can be worn and washed for years to come. Before painting the scarf we will consider design, mixing colours to achieve desired shades and how to achieve textures.
