Shadow Weaving - 5 day course

About the Course
Shadow weaving is a balanced weave where alternating colours, dark and light or in some cases thick and thin yarn types are used in both warp and weft. The woven fabric creates blocks of pinstripes in the warp and weft, creating an optical mix/3-D effect in the weave. The greater the contrast in yarn choices, dark and light the greater the the resulting effect.
Shadow weave has many possibilities for variation, with weave structures being altered by even the smallest of changes in the threading of the blocks of repeats in the warp as well as varying the lifting.
In this 5 day workshop you will be shown a number of worksheets on which to base your finished piece before preparing two warps, one light and one dark on two separate beams to create your own optical cloth. All materials and equipment are provided as part of the fee.
This shadow weaving workshop would be the ideal introduction for beginners but something new for the more experienced.
