Sew: Unisex Hawaiian Shirt

X

Description

We have added another unisex pattern to our workshop range!

In this workshop, you will be working with a pattern from our new range of patterns by The Fashion Box.

You will bring along your own fabrics for this workshop, and cut out your own garments.

We have sizes ranging from XS / S / M / L / XL / XXL

All patterns in the Fashion Box catalogue will be based on retail sizing, so no need to worry about sizing and fit!

In this workshop you will learn the following techniques:

Using a clothing pattern
Pattern markings - reading them and understanding them
Layplans - laying your patterns on fabric
Cutting out
Sewing a 'Burrito method' yoke
Sewing a rever collar
French seams
Sewing in shirt sleeves
Sewing buttonholes on your machine with the buttonhole foot
Sewing buttons 'on' with the button foot (no more handstitching on buttons!)
Hemming and pressing

Fabrics:
You will need to bring 2 metres of fabric, no less than 115cm wide in width and 5 shirt buttons.
There are some exceptions to this, if you are buying, for example, and Ankara fabric, because the width of the fabrics is very narrow, you will need a little more.

If you are buying fabric with a directional print, you will need to make sure you cut all the pattern pieces in the same direction, so you will also need a little more.

Please note: you will need a shirt type fabric, like cottons, linens etc. you can go as bold as you like with print design.

Maximum 5 people in this workshop.
