If you have existing sewing skills and would like to develop your understanding of garment construction further, this is the course for you. On this course you will have the opportunity to combine sewing with pattern cutting to complete a garment all to your own size. You will draft a pattern, then create a calico toile to test the pattern before cutting out the final garment in a fabric of your choice. You will benefit from Tutor advice regarding fabric choices & suppliers.
Term 1 covers a kimono style jacket or coat, with stand collar and shaped side seam inserts, using simple rectangles and squares. Term 2 easy fitting trousers, with either an elasticated or a fitted waist finish and side seam pockets. Term 3 covers a simple unlined easy fitting coat with front buttoning and simple neckline.
