About the Course
Grow dye plants and utilise the Morley dye garden to harvest established plants such as weld, woad and madder. Plan a dye garden design. Experiment with seasonal plant dyeing, contact printing, solar dyeing and eco bundles which involve placing plant material on to cloth, wrapping tightly and applying heat. Create and test natural dye mordants on a variety of fabrics and modify colour.
By the end of the course you will be able to
Experiment with seasonal plant dyeing on a range of fibres
Identify dye plants, grow dye plant seedlings and design a dye garden
Botanical contact printing and solar dyeing
Test natural dye mordants and modifiers

What you will need for your class
Notebook, pen, camera/phone. Fabric sample swatches for the course £5. Other fabric is available for sale including organic cotton and wool yarn, nuns veiling, washed linen. However welcome to bring clean white old cotton/linen sheets.
