We will be hosting three masterclasses with metal clay jewellery artist Anna Mazon. Anna is an award-winning jeweller based in Poland, and comes highly recommended by our silver clay tutor Anna Campbell.
Anna Mazon is a world-renowned metal clay artist, and sought after teacher, who travels around the world to share her techniques. These are her only planned classes in Scotland for 2021, and we are excited to welcome her to The Arienas Collective.
Sculpting metal clay masterclass
Have you ever wished you could sculpt with silver? Now is your chance to learn!
Anna Mazon regularly sculpts with silver clay and is the perfect person to learn from. On this one day masterclass you will learn how to design and sculpt your own teddy bear pendant. The techniques you will learn will easily be transferable to any forms you want to be able to make. Your pendant will be ready for you to take home at the end of the weekend course.
Specifically you will learn:
how to make hollow forms (which helps save on silver and make the piece light)
how to sculpt in wet clay
how to create detail in dry clay
different ways to create textures in dry clay
different ways to finish and polish the fired piece.
You will have access to a basic metal clay tool kit. You will need to bring a fine jewellers file with a pointed end; two fine paintbrushes; one craft knife e.g. x-acto; one pair of jewellers tweezers with a pointed end; needle tool, if you have one (we will have cocktail sticks available if not). We can send you a list of suppliers.
The class is suitable for anyone who has attended Anna Campbell's full day Introduction to silver clay jewellery beginners class. If you are unsure whether this masterclass is right for you, please get in touch before booking.
Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.
The Arienas Collective workshops are run from a supportive and welcoming home-based environment within Edinburgh’s City Centre Georgian New Town. We invite you to turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
Spaces on our workshops are limited so that our artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us.
All equipment is provided, and the materials you need to complete your project are included in the price of your workshop (unless stated otherwise).
Our refreshment breaks are an important part of all The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and experiences. They are a time to socialise, make new friends and chat to the artists and makers. We are fortunate to have a fantastic range of independent shops and producers nearby, and feature locally sourced food and drinks wherever possible. A wide range of dietary requirements can be catered for.
PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Due to COVID-19, we have had to adapt the way we run our workshops and there may be some changes to the way it is delivered.
