This craft workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those with some experience. If it is something you would like to do but you are not sure about your drawing skills then dive right in! If you can draw a simple shape and use a pair of scissors then you have the skills required. Siwan will guide you through how to turn your shapes and colours into a beautiful cushion cover to be proud of.
Recent graduate Siwan Thomas will guide you through all the stages from design through to finished printed fabric so you can create your own unique screen printed cushion cover.
You’ll start the day by playing around with ideas of shapes and colours. Siwan will help you choose which of your ideas to develop to create your design. This will include the different effects you can achieve by curating your shapes and colours; how to create repeat patterns; what happens when you arrange your shapes and colours in different ways.
When you are happy with your design she will guide you through planning how you will transfer it onto fabric. This will include deciding which areas are printed/masked and in which order the colours are printed onto the fabric.
Then you will start to print!
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
On the day you will print a piece of cotton satin duchess fabric approximately 90cm by 45cm. After the workshop Siwan will insert a zip and make it into a 16” (40cm) square cushion cover which you can collect from Stiwdio 3 (or it can be posted to you if you are not local).
There will be 6 colours available to choose from. You can choose as many or as few as suits your design.
Each person will have up to 4 sheets of lovely thick cartridge paper to create their design and up to 3 meters of the special heat seal paper that is part of the process. Depending on the complexity of your design you may decide to make a second cover. Any extras can be settled with Siwan directly on the day.
Our teaching space is on the first floor above our cafe where you can freshly made dishes made from locally sourced ingredients.
