For Nicoline, Denmark and paper crafts is synonymous with Christmas. Her love for paper stems right back to childhood making, cutting and gluing around the kitchen table during November and December. In this festive workshop, you’ll be guided through traditional Scandinavian paper crafts that have decorated Danish trees for generations: woven hearts, folded stars, paper cones, and even a few vintage animal baskets, recreated from museum archive templates. You’ll start with the iconic woven heart, learning the foundations of this timeless craft and discovering how it can be adapted in countless creative ways. These hearts can be filled with treats or even used to present a voucher, promise, or cash gift hung on the tree. Next you’ll make classic woven Danish stars, delicate, geometric, and found on almost every Christmas tree in Denmark. Finally, you’ll finish with either a paper cone or a charming vintage animal basket, each full of old-world character. Fun, relaxing, and suitable for all skill levels, this class is a perfect way to slow down, get creative, and step into the true spirit of a Scandinavian Christmas. Only 20 mins from Tunbridge Wells, East Grinstead, Edenbridge, Uckfield and Crowborough, our Studio is in a beautiful converted Oast with exposed beams and gentle views across the farmland. Filled with mouth-watering aromas from The Oast Bakery, where Alison prepares our delicious refreshments, this is the perfect place to escape the pressures of daily life and enjoy some creative time for yourself. Our aim is to offer the chance to unwind, learn a new skill and meet like minded people whilst enjoying a cuppa and a slice of cake. The Oast Studio was started in 2021, as the COVID restrictions came to an end and we realised there was a need and a demand for people to come and spend time crafting together. We paired together our love of food and sewing and The Oast Studio was created! We now offer over 80 different craft and sewing classes from Needle Felting & Basket Weaving to Sewing & Painting. With freshly baked treats at every class plus home cooked lunches at all our full day courses.
