Classic Round Hand Calligraphy (also called Foundational) is the first script you learn to understand calligraphy techniques. Holding the chisel nib at the correct angle and learning how to construct the letters using different strokes helps you understand that calligraphy is about ‘constructing and forming the letters’ not writing.
Originating in England in the 1660s it standardised in it’s form through the publication of printed writing manuals.
The workshops are lighthearted, fun and aimed to give a taster of the skills needed to produce this very popular beautiful script. Ideal for all those personal touches to your crafted cards or for generating your own unique designs.
Beginners will learn about the history of calligraphy and how to correctly hold and generate the strokes needed to create this lovely script.
They will then finish the workshop by producing a final piece of their choice, demonstrating all that has been learned during the session.
We would suggest for this class that you have in mind a small quote, phrase or saying you would like to use as an example to get you started.
