This 2-day weekend course for up to 6 adults will explore ring-making. No previous experience is needed, but all abilities are welcome.
Beginners will design and make a silver ring and will learn piercing, texturing, soldering, and finishing & polishing. Those with previous jewellery-making experience who wish to extend or update their skills, can work on a spinner (Fiddler) ring, or can create a bezel-set ring.
Please bring a sketchbook (A5 is perfect!) and a pencil. Please remember to bring glasses for close work if you need them, as well as closed shoes for safety.
About the Tutor
Christine Johnson is a member of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery.
The creation of visual effects through movement (and the illusion of movement) is fundamental in Christine’s work.
The repetition of lines and the interplay of light, line and space create the illusion of another set of lines and patterns. This is particularly apparent when the viewer changes position in relation to the object or when the piece itself incorporates movement.
Christine’s kinetic pieces allow the wearer to engage with and control the moiré patterns inherent in these optical pieces and to experience a tactile, reassuring feeling of familiarity.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
The price includes all tools and materials.
