About the Course

Relief Carving in Hardwoods with Alister Neville

Arriving in a large van weighed down with 3 workbenches Alister skilfully extracts them placing them safely under the canopies outside the Cyclists barn (if it looks like rain). Four people to each bench, plenty of space still and very solid.

Next out comes the wide selection of woods he brings for people to choose from: sycamore, ash, oak, birch. Many people opt for house name boards but other items are carved as well; animals, numbers and sayings. Anything is possible - time allowing - in the day.

Alister Neville has been carving exciting designs and sculpting in Hardwoods for many years and recently carved this fab cyclist for the Cycle Cafe entrance.

There will be a small charge for the piece of hardwood you choose to work on payable to Alister at the end of the course.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

Welcome drinks : fresh coffee & home made biscuits, a lovely 2 course Aga lunch served in our farmhouse kitchen or outside in the Greystoke Cycle Cafe Tea Garden as soon as it's warm enough. To finish off the day, a freshly made Cream Tea (including Aga-baked scones, cream and jam).

Our days are considered special treats; many come back time and time again and often combine it with a short break to the Lake District.

We have been hosting and organising 'Quirky Workshops' since 2005 from our friendly family run Cycle Cafe Tea Garden on the northern fringes of the Lake District. All our tutors are carefully hand selected experts and professionals and many considered as leading nationally in their field.
