About the Course
The Tower Street Print Project is a community arts organisation that has been teaching printmaking in the heart of Ipswich and at venues across Suffolk and Norfolk since 2015. We are passionate about printmaking and love getting people to have a go, as once they try printmaking they are usually keen to continue.
Our Reduction Linocutting course is suitable for beginners or for people with some skills who want to try this exciting relief printmaking method of printing multi-colour images with just one block of lino. We approach teaching in a 'hands-on' way as we think 'doing' rather than 'talking about it' is the most effective way to learn, so you will get lots of one-to-one tuition and time to practice your technique, during your time with us.
Don't worry if you think you can't draw or haven't done anything arty for a while as we have designed our course to not only give you an insight into this exciting and rewarding printmaking method but to give you confidence in your own creativity.
You will be guided through the equipment and processes by an experienced tutor and printmaker who has the ability to help everyone feel at home with printmaking and we keep the class size to a comfortable number so you will get plenty of support to produce a vibrant artwork. We are happy to have young people over the age of 14 years come to the course, if they come with an adult.
Here are what some of our students say about us and this course.
"I have just completed the five week Reduction Linocutting course and want to thank Al and Alison for making it so enjoyable. The relaxed atmosphere was fun to learn in and be creative with like minded people. Al guided us through the various stages of printmaking with helpful suggestions to improve our work. A most enjoyable course and I would recommend it to those thinking of trying it. I shall certainly be attending more at Tower St. Print Project"
"I enjoyed my day with you very much and am recommending it to my friends. Al was an excellent patient, helpful, thoughtful and enthusiastic teacher. I do hope I’ll be able to come again "
